Scotts agrees to buy part of Monsanto unit in a $300 million deal

Article Abstract:

Scotts Co. expects to increase its annual sales by more than 20% and its access to European markets with an agreement to buy Monsanto Co.'s Solaris division's lawn and garden products business. Scott also intends to buy marketing rights for US and European markets of Monsanto's residential-use Roundup herbicide. Solaris, which has annual revenues of over $200 million with its Ortho brand of pesticides, Weed-B-Gon and Rose Pride, has manufacturing facilities in Fort Madison, WI and Corwen, England. Monsanto, which has recently been acquired by American Homes Products Corp., will continue to produce the compounds for Roundup and sell it to agricultural markets.

American Home, Monsanto to combine in a stock swap valued at $35.08 billion

Article Abstract:

American Home Products Corp. has reached an agreement to purchase Monsanto Corp. for $35.08 billion in an exchange of stock. The planned acquisition would form a major pharmaceutical, nutrition, and agricultural superpower. Under the deal, American Home would acquire approximately 65% of the merged entity. Both companies' chairman would be appointed as co-chairman and co-CEOs for the new firm.

DST to buy USCS for stock valued at $874 million

Article Abstract:

DST Systems Inc. has reached an agreement to purchase USCS International Inc. for $874 million in stock. USCS offers billing services and specialized software for cable television services, as well as for other telecommunication sectors. USCS shareholders will receive 0.62 common share of DST for every one of their shares.
