Strategy development processes and participation in decision making: predictors of role stressors and job satisfaction

Article Abstract:

The implementation of a participative approach to organizational decision making offers opportunities for enhancing the level of job satisfaction among employees. Results gathered from an analysis involving middle- and high- level executives in 40 organizations proved that participative decision making (PDM) forms a direct linear relationship with job satisfaction, regardless of the type of strategy development process adopted. However, PDM was shown to generate a negative impact on role ambiguity and role conflict, highlighting the potential benefits of using PDM in reducing work-related stressors.

Linking managerial cognition and organizational performance: a preliminary investigation using casual maps

Article Abstract:

The possible relationship between organizational performance and individual awareness is considered. The use of casual maps obtained from owner-managers of retail organizations which are either contracting or growing seek to discover whether individual awareness correlates with performance. It is argued that action and managerial thinking are inseparable, although there is no obvious relationship between cognition and organization performance.
