Success factors in strategic supplier alliances: the buying company perspective

Article Abstract:

An investigation into the factors needed for a successful supplier chain alliance revealed that there are only a few guidelines for decision making in establishing strategic partnerships. The most significant move to be taken by purchasing managers is to develop and nourish a sense of trust with the supplier. This can be done by improving task coordination and really doing what one promises to do. It is important to note that formal commitments of time and money are not essential for the success of the partnership.

Discount pricing policies and the coordination of decentralized distribution systems

Article Abstract:

A method of integrating discount policies in a supply chain is suggested. The method extrapolates from discount on a single buyer's individual order size to discount on buyer's individual order size and annual volume in a larger supply chain. Effectively, the supplier is able to offer optimal discount for optimal profit through retailers to individuals.
