Changes in management practice and the post-acquisition performance achieved by direct investors in the UK

Article Abstract:

The relationship between the changes in management practice introduced into acquired 201 UK subsidiaries between 1985 and 1994 and their levels of post-acquisition competitive performance is analyzed. For comparative purposes, the analysis focuses on acquisitions made by major foreign investors in the UK, namely American, Japanese, French and German, and also by other UK firms. Results show that changes in management practice do have an impact on post-acquisition competitive performance.
