The Dow Jones Averages dropped during the week of February 13, 1984 to February 17, 1984. Takeover rumors fueled call option prices in the rumored companies. The volume of put options to call options is not large enough to indicate a market turnaround. Many analysts believe the market will rally to correct an oversold condition, but will turn down again after.

Fears of higher interest rates pushed call option prices and volume down during the week of March 19, 1984 to March 23, 1984. Options fell further and faster than usual. There was considerable interest in the bond market.
