The Transistor Mystery At Bell Labs

Article Abstract:

AT&T Bell Laboratories may be on the verge of revolutionizing computers and computer equipment with a ballistic transistor. It switches at a projected speed of ten femtoseconds or one quadrillionth of a second. Details on how the transistor works are included. The development of such a transistor could lead to computer and communication systems which are many times faster than those which presently exist.

Six avid skiers who were chosen to help Skiing rate the best 1998 products are profiled. Independent video producer Lucy Garrity is an intense skier who outperformed some professional testers in the bumps. All testers had positive reactions to newly shaped skis.
