The intelligent enterprise a new paradigm

Article Abstract:

The future success of both manufacturing and service companies will depend less on managing physical assets and more on developing and using intellectual resources. Today, physical factors rarely give a firm a maintainable competitive edge: instead, firms need to develop depth in service activities which cannot be exceeded or duplicated, for example market awareness, know-how, skill sets or information-distribution systems. This means that strategic focus must be redefined to mean focusing on achieving a competitive edge in a firm's selected core service activities.
