The pivotal departure of a value investor

Article Abstract:

Micheal F. Price is stepping down as chief executive of Mutual Series Fund Inc. Price is taking advantage of an option in his contract that allows him to depart on the second anniversary of the company's sale to the Franklin Templeton Group. Price said his departure was not prompted by the Mutual Series funds' recent underperformance. "The guys who I've brought into the business are champing at the bit to run it. I don't think it makes sense to sit there when over the last year or two, they are doing more and more," said Price. Price will remain as the chairman of Mutual Series Fund Inc., and Franklin Mutual Advisers.
