The process management triangle: an empirical investigation of process trade-offs

Article Abstract:

A process management triangle is used to investigate the degree to which fundamental trade-offs between capacity utilization, variability and inventory generalize to complex operations and business systems. The conclusion is based on analysis of simulation-based facility-level using teacher case study data and an industry-level analysis based on recorded economic data from three multi-year periods.
