The role of context and structure in radical and incremental logistics innovation adoption

Article Abstract:

An analysis of logistics costs was conducted among US manufacturers to study the use of logistical process innovation. A typology of innovation on innovation cost and radicalness indicates that size and environmental uncertainty has a direct impact on expensive and radical incremental innovation. The study shows that integration has an inverse relation with radical innovation and is not related to incremental logistics innovation.

Results indicated that accountable subjects analyzed more information, usd multiple stage search criteria, and were likely to utilize a more compensatory choice strategy. Findings also showed differential effects for accountability and issue involvement.
