This Is the Year of the Skilled Office Worker

Article Abstract:

It is imperative that office workers develop specialized skills such as word processing, good shorthand, or accounting knowledge if they are to stay in the work force. Office workers will have to become more mobile and less selective in their choice of businesses. Management will insist on greater productivity, dedication, and training. Tables of office salaries in New South Wales for those over and under twenty-one show that senior staff salaries have increased, while younger clerical and middle staff have not, due to greater competition.

Warning Bells for the DP Manager: Get into Office Automation Now

Article Abstract:

According to Mr. Ron Yearsley, consultant and director BIS APPLIED SYSTEMS, centralized data processing departments are losing some of their clout as office personnel are doing their own information processing on microcomputers. Data processing managers should keep abreast of office automation developments and assist office management in planning and decisions. BIS has developed a twenty-minute film package on office automation organizing and planning. The package includes a film presenter's guide and a handbook for managers.
