'Discovery,' Russian 'Mir' rendezvous

Article Abstract:

The US space shuttle 'Discovery' flew to within 37 ft of the Russian space station 'Mir' in a test-run for planned future dockings of the two craft. The rendezvous was almost aborted over concern for a leaky jet thruster, but the crew turned off the thruster before approaching 'Mir.'
