US dollar keeps falling

Article Abstract:

The US dollar continues to fall in value against world currencies, pushing the Australian dollar to US 77.7cents on January 12, 2004 its highest level since May 1997. It is observed that the Australian dollar is 20% stronger against the greenback since September 1, 2003 and reports state that due to this factor Australian manufacturers are considering moving production overseas.

The poor pay

Article Abstract:

The African delegates urged the United States to cut the United States and European Union agricultural subsidies paid to American cotton growers at the Cancun meeting of the World Trade Organization in Australia in 2003. The subsidies had put the livelihoods of 10 million poor West African cotton farmers at risk, robbing them of $US300 million in income in 2001-2002.

WTO fights back

Article Abstract:

The French were among the fiercest of the opponents of removal of agricultural subsidies. A survey conducted by German Marshall Fund in Europe found that 21% of voters are very unfavorable about globalization and 54% are unfavorable towards globalization.
