Vancouver International Airport expansion

Article Abstract:

The Vancouver International Airport project saw expansion plans for a new international terminal building (ITB) to serve the forecasted 5.9 mil passengers by 2010. The Vancouver International Airport Authority contracted the services of the project management company of Pacific Liaicon and Associates Inc to conceptualize the six-volume Project Definition Report (PDR). The PDR consisted of the management policies and procedures, conceptual design, project cost estimation and the project schedule. Construction of the $355 mil ITB and parallel runway started in 1993 and became fully operational on June 1, 1996 and Nov 2, 1996, respectively.

Unacceptable discretion: countering tax aviodance and preserving the rights of the individual

Article Abstract:

The legislation adopted for preventing tax avoidance is wide ranging and general, which does not safeguard the interests of the tax payer, since methods of payment have become more complicated and the Inland Revenue has greater powers. Suggested ways to counter this problem include that a definition of an unacceptable level of tax avoidance be established, that legislation be targeted more specifically and making changes subject to greater review.
