Article Abstract:

Australia's travel, urban residential and commercial office space markets are expected to be the industries hardest hit by the Asian financial crisis. More than A$3.2 billion in hotel and resort development may be delayed or abandoned, as are inner-city apartment complexes which are mostly underwritten by Asian companies. Commercial properties are expected to recover first.

With a godfather that sold property for Aristotle Onassis, Lidis widened this market toehold with developments in Sydney. He also maintains a debt-free trust, a small group of external unit-holders and keeps a mix of income and development properties.
