Where the value lies in sport sponsorship

Article Abstract:

Companies interested in sports sponsorship should invest in sports that are under-exposed in Australia, such as baseball, netball, rugby union, hockey and soccer because of a lack of sponsors or where present sponsors are doing a poor job. Approximately $850 million was spent by Australian companies on sports sponsorship during 1997. Sports sponsorships are important in Australia because of the interest of Australians in playing or watching sports.
