Word Processing-Software Compiles Manuals

Article Abstract:

A word processing program from Hewlett-Packard has been purchased by Steel Mains Pty Ltd to be used on their previously installed HP 3000 Series III computer. The cost of the program plus high speed printer and keyboard with display was lower than for a separate word processor. Terminals on the computer system can access the program. Manuals on procedures and standards plus mailing lists have been compiled. Materials are stored on the computer disk, eliminating much storage space.

Documentation Is as Important as the Software

Article Abstract:

Software documentation is as important as the program for which it is written, and the better the documentation the more the software will cost. Attractive packaging to promote the use and benefits of software is being designed. Professional writers rather than programmers are documenting programs for beginning instruction as well as reference. INFOSTAR data base by Micropro displays a page reference number on the screen. A photograph of packaging examples is included.
