Would you pay a price for mobility?

Article Abstract:

Cellular telephone shoppers can take several measures to determine whether they would benefit by converting from land lines. First, land lines are less expensive for making local calls because cellular phone rates are the same for local and long distance. Second, users who have specialized calling needs may find more attractive alternatives to flat-rate plans. Third, analog cellular service may leave users vulnerable to security problems. By contrast, digital cellular phones are touted by companies as providing excellent security. Fourth, digital cellular phones can offer savings to land-line optional services such as caller ID, voice mail and a pager. Fifth, land lines are a better option for users who value technical quality. Shoppers also should determine their montly log time and favorite call destinations before choosing from numerous service packages.
