30 top markets for trade & expansion 2000

Article Abstract:

A group of 60 countries were ranked according to their performance as regards trade and expansion. One of the most surprising results was Canada's emergence as the number one pick to replace the UK which was the top market in the 1999 ranking. The UK has emerged in the second place instead along with Sweden and Japan. Greece had the weakest performance while Malaysia, Thailand and Brazil made significant improvements. Among the regions, the Americas, developed countries in Asia and Western Europe played dominant roles in the ratings.

Y2K: are you prepared?

Article Abstract:

Corporations in the US have, overall been actively preparing their enterprises for year 2000 computer date transition (Y2K) compliance. However, many firms in other countries and the governments of many other nations lag far behind the US in their Y2K preparations. Domestic firms must therefore develop some contingency plans with regard to alternativemeans of communication, sources of supply and shipping methods/routes in case problems occur when dealing with foreign clients and firms.
