A bank where machines, not staff, take precedence

Article Abstract:

Fitch, UK, consultancy designed two fully automated banking branches for the Internationale Nederlanden (ING) Bank. No operational staff are employed at these branches, which carry out all banking activities. The bank aimed to make the branches accessible in remote areas and is aimed at complementing the main ING Bank branches. Design was centered on presenting the bank's image and meeting customer needs, with the resultant bank a cross between an automated lobby and a conventional bank. About 50% of the space used is non-public for equipment servicing.
