Article Abstract:

Developments in magnetic storage technology have meant an annual 60% increase in the amaount of data stored per unit of disk surface since 1991, while storage capacity costs have also dropped. International Business Machines (IBM) has announced a further advance with its Microdrive, but progress is likely to be halted in increasing storage capacity due to the superparamagnetic limit. This limit could be reached in 2003 to 2004, and there is concern as to how it can be overcome. TetraStor and Quinta are two companies working on this problem, and IBM is also developing technology to tackle the problem.

The voice of the victorious Confederate States

Article Abstract:

President Jefferson Davis of the Confederate States saw slavery as less important than the southern states' right to leave the union, as the key cause of the civil war. The south could have been victorious and then could have developed manufacturing industry, with domination in the world cotton trade. Mexico would appear to be a threat, since a defeat of the North would have left more opportunities for Mexico to retake territory that it had lost. The South would not be interested in intervening in European affairs.

Odd states out: affirmative action

Article Abstract:
