A mild response for SingTel

Article Abstract:

Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. released bid information in its attempt to merge with Australia's Cable and Wireless Optus Ltd., a target worth almost $7.42 billion. Majority owner of Optus, United Kingdom's Cable and Wireless PLC, assured acceptance of the merger terms, even as Optus directors gave it a lukewarm response. Of the three options presented to Optus shareholders, only one approached fair according to independent merger evaluator Grant Samuel and Associates.

E-Commerce firms to unite

SESAMi.com Pte. Ltd., a part of Singapore Telecommunications Ltd., is planning to merge with Asia2B.com, an online commerce consortium from Hong Kong. Some speculators say that both companies may be doing this in a move to compete with Li Ka-shing, a prominent businessman in Hong Kong.

SingTel releases its formal offer for Optus deal

Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (SingTel) has released its formal offer to acquire Cable and Wireless Optus Ltd. The merged entity will have $29.2 billion Singapore dollars (18.37 billion euros) in assets.
