Pareto's concept of demagogic plutocracy

Article Abstract:

Pareto's concept of 'demagogic plutocracy' (the liberal state) is based on the prevalence of non-logical actions in social behavior. His emphasis on the replacement of the concept of one-sided causality with that of mutual interaction or functional correlation caused worry to Marxists. He states that an interventionist government has an adverse effect on public morale. Pareto emphasizes on the pluralistic model of policy process and his contribution to liberal political thought is reflected in his metaphysical commitment to laissez-faire capitalism.

Paving the way

Article Abstract:

A multi-million pound sterling block paver project is being used to transform New Brighton waterfront, Merseyside, UK. Block paving is more aesthetic than asphalt and is simalarly priced. Different patterns and colours define the roads, promenades and car parking areas. Drainage falls are provided by Polychannel and Aco drainage channels between gully pots. The pavers are laid in 10 metres to 15 metres compartments retained by precast concrete curbs to curtail flood damage. A surface sealant provides extra protection.
