A new kind of car company: Daimler-Benz's merger with Chrysler will launch an overdue rationalisation in the global car industry

Article Abstract:

Daimler-Benz's purchase of Chryser will influence the automobile market in the US as well as Europe. Chrysler is a profitable company, yet its market share is weaker, so the Daimler name could help. Daimler lacks strong products that Chrysler has, but it has innovative designing.

The brisk pace at which multinational companies are buying businesses in Latin America stems in part from the desire to have operations in the region without having start-up costs and problems. The ease of trade within the region allows the companies to coordinate operations.

Toyota implemented a new manufacturing technique to improve production in light of increased competition and a high-priced yen. Machines are used to help assembly-line employees instead of replacing them. The number of new pats used in the vehicle being produced is minimal.
