AUSTRIA: CONDITIONS ON FEIBRA TAKEOVER

Article Abstract:

The Austrian cartel court has given its approval to the acquisition of Austria's biggest advertising leaflet distributor, Feibra AG by Osterreichische Post AG. The approval entails a number of conditions. The two companies have to remain independent until the end of 2005, and the Post may not discriminate against other leaflet distributors. The terms of the acquisition are still being negotiated. The private foundation F+B Privatstiftung, which owns the full stock of Feibra, is to sell initially 51% to the Post. Another 19% might be bought by the Post at a later stage. The deal is to be backdated to the beginning of 2001.

AUSTRIA: GFW COMPLAINT AGAINST POST

Article Abstract:

GFW (Gesellschaft fur Werbemittelverteilung), which is controlled by the Dutch Post, has filed a complaint against Osterreichische Post AG with the Vienna trade court. GFW is criticising the fact that the Post charges no VAT for unadressed mass mailings. GFW also accuses the Post of delivering unaddressed mail (so-called Infomail) to the letter boxes of households. GFW claims that only addressed mail is allowed according to Austrian legislation. The Austrian cartel court recently gave its approval to the acquisition of Austria's biggest advertising leaflet distributor, Feibra AG, by Osterreichische Post AG.
