AUSTRIA: DUROPACK'S AMBITIONS

Article Abstract:

The packaging manufacturer Duropack is planning acquisitions in the Balkan region. Recently the company brought on stream a new production plant in Hungary. In year 2001 Duropack expects a slight increase in production volume and a 8.5% increase in turnover, largely due to high paper prices. The result should match the 2000 level, when the company doubled profit on ordinary activities to just under Sch 150mn. Turnover grew 21% to Sch 2.86bn.

AUSTRIA: TRENDS IN DRINKING MILK MARKET

Article Abstract:

In year 2000 the bottling of fresh milk in Austria declined by 2% from a year earlier. On the other hand, the volume of UHT milk filled in Austria grew by 7%. However, fresh milk continues to dominate the Austrian drinking milk market. More than 90% of milk was filled in cartons, while PET bottles accounted for 2% of the market.
