AUSTRIA/GERMANY: INKU EXPANDS IN GERMANY

Article Abstract:

Inku, an Austrian Klosterneuburg-based wholesaler of wall and floor coverings, wants to be represented in the whole of Germany. The company has taken over Berlin-based Poppe & Wirth in a deal backdated to 1 January 1999. The German company that specialises mainly in floor coverings has branches in Buschow and Eberswalde as well as in Zagan, Poland. The acquisition raises the turnover of Inku Gruppe International by more than Sch 200mn to close to Sch 2bn in 1999.

GERMANY: DEUTSCHE STEINZEUG TO LASSELSBERGER?

Article Abstract:

Subject to the approval of the cartel authorities, Lasselsberger of Pochlarn, Austria, is to take over a majority stake in German Bonn-based Deutsche Steinzeug Cremer & Breuer AG. The proposed deal would create Europe's biggest ceramics company with an annual turnover of Sch 12bn. Deutsche Steinzeug produces ceramics for architecture, technical buildings equipment and stoneware pipes. It is also involved in a pipe joint venture with Wienerberger. Lasselsberger, a family enterprise, has two production plants in the Czech Republic and another two abroad.

GERMANY: AUSTRIAN TARBUK ENTERS MARKET

Article Abstract:

The Austrian car dealer Tarbuk, the importer of Nissan and Jaguar cars to Austria, has entered the German market by taking over the German Ford dealer Emminger. The German company runs 7 dealerships of its own and has about 30 contract partners. With 180 staff, it sells more than 2,000 cars per year and generates an annual turnover of more than Sch 450mn.
