AUSTRIA/INDIA: SEMPERIT PLANNING ACQUISITION

Article Abstract:

Semperit AG Holding, the Austrian Wimpassing-based rubber products manufacturer has earmarked Sch 330mn-400mn for investments in year 2000. The next acquisition is to be made in India, involving production. Sch 75mn is to be invested in the research centre in Wimpassing. In year 2000 Semperit AG Holding expects a double-digit growth in both sales and profits. The decline, which is attributed to pressure on prices, is to be reversed in year 2000, as synergies are expected from the new Polish subsidiary Stomil Belchatow S.A.. The medical gloves division Sempermed increased sales by 17% to Sch 1.8bn. The Semperflex division making high-pressure hydraulic hoses for industry saw a 35% increase in turnover to Sch 1.1bn. Semperform technical formed parts sales increased 7% to Sch 1bn.
