AUSTRIA: PRIVATE HOSPITAL PLANNED IN KREMS

Article Abstract:

Two Austrian doctors Roland Fasol and Harald Rosen have set up a company called IMC in order to carry out a Sch 900mn hospital project. The new private hospital planned in Krems would treat only foreign clients and target especially well-off patients from the Arab region and eastern Europe. It would also accommodate the first private bone and tissue bank in Europe. The hospital would be complemented with a 5-star hotel with congress facilities.

AUSTRIA: NEW RAILWAY STATION FOR INNSBRUCK

Article Abstract:

Construction of a new main railway station in Innsbruck is to start in November <2001>. The project that is to be carried out in two stages involves a total investment of about Sch 1bn, which is shared by the railways , the federal and state governments and the local authority. Beside the railway station buildings, the project involves the construction of an underground carpark with 200 spaces by a private investor as well as a new hotel. Meanwhile, Austria's new infrastructure minister Monika Forstinger has announced the reduction of state funding for railway stations from Sch 5.5bn to Sch 1.5bn.

AUSTRIA: LUXURY HOSPITAL PROJECT APPROVED

Article Abstract:

The building permit for the private hospital with 5-star hotel in Krems, Austria has been granted. Construction work is to start in the autumn 2001; hospital and hotel are to be opened in the autumn 2003. A North American group of companies will invest more than Sch 1bn in the project, which is to attract wealthy patients from Eastern Europe and the Arabic region. The hospital alone will cost Sch 700mn. It will specialise in cardiac surgery, orthopaedics and neurology, explains a head of IMC-Beteiligungs GmbH (Innovative Medical Care). Initially the hospital will have 176 beds (of which 12 with intensive care). Later on the number is to be doubled.
