Austria: OBB to work with haulage companies

Article Abstract:

The previous chairman of the Austrian national railway, OBB was in favour of buying haulage companies and made the OBB one of the largest haulage companies in Austria. Thus the present Chairman of the OBB, Rudiger vorm Walde's announcement, at the industrial assembly claiming that this is no longer the OBB's policy was a shift in policy. According to vorm Walde, OBB intends to work with these companies. Of the OBB's goods traffic, 75% is across borders, thus there are many opportunities to work with other companies. In passenger transport Vorm Walde intends to increase the market share of the railway to 85%.
