AUSTRIA: STEYR MANNLICHER CHANGES HANDS

Article Abstract:

Cura Investholding GmbH, a Wiener Neustadt-based consultancy company specialising in the restructuring of medium-sized companies and owned by Wolfgang Furlinger, has taken over the Austrian sporting and sports gun manufacturer Steyr Mannlicher from Creditanstalt. The deal includes Steyr Mannlicher's 51% stake in German Suhler Jagd- und Sportwaffen GmbH. Cura is to streamline production at Steyr Mannlicher, which employs about 135 staff and generated a turnover of about EUR 16mn in year 2000.

AUSTRIA/GERMANY: BUYER SOUGHT FOR MANNLICHER/SUHL

Article Abstract:

Bank Austria/Creditanstalt is looking for a buyer for Steyr Mannlicher AG und Co KG and its German subsidiary Suhler Jagd- und Sportwaffen GmbH. Steyr Mannlicher holds 51% of the stock of the Suhl-based producer of hunting and sport guns, which employs about 145 staff and generates an annual turnover of DM 15mn. The other half of the company's stock is held by Landesbank Hessen-Thuringen.

AUSTRIA: JOB CUTS AT STEYR MANNLICHER

Steyr Mannlicher AG und Co KG reports an increase in losses in year 2000 from Sch 47mn in 1999. Turnover in year 2000 amounted to about Sch 220mn. The company refers to problems relating to the US market, to certain product groups and to the introduction of new products. The Steyr-based company, which is owned fully by Creditanstalt, is making 45 of the 174 staff redundant.
