AUSTRIA/US: AT&S TO COOPERATE WITH MOTOROLA

Article Abstract:

The Austrian semiconductor specialist AT&S has agreed on cooperation with the US mobile phone producer Motorola. The partners are to research into the integration of passive components into printed circuit boards. To AT&S, the partnership means an order volume of EUR 10mn in the first year. The new technology, which is to be developed at AT&S headquarters in Leoben-Hinterberg, will enable the storage of more data in smaller mobile phones.

AUSTRIA: AT & S EYEING AUTOMOTIVE MARKETS

Article Abstract:

The semiconductor maker AT & S is to concentrate increasingly on the automotive market at its production plant in Fehring. In 1999 AT & S built a new production building for Sch 150mn and in 2000 it spent Sch 50mn on equipment at the plant that employs about 520 staff.
