A fatal accident in Pennsylvania involving tire-tread separation has called into question the safety of approximately 450,000 tires that were imported from Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Company Ltd. in China since 2002 and sold through Foreign Tire Sales Inc. The tires have either a lack of or an insufficient degree of a particular safety feature that is supposed to make them more durable.
