Aerospatiale Matra's offer price values company at $8.4 billion

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the finance minister of France, said that Aerospatiale Matra shares will be offered for 19.60 euros ($20.77) to institutional investors. The aerospace group's shares will be offered to private investors at 19.20 euros. Aerospatiale is being readied for privatization. The maximum price that can be bidded for the group's shares is 19.60 euros. Aerospatiale's privatization gives the group a value of 52 billion French francs ($8.4 billion) or 7.93 billion euros.

Airbus takes a direct shot at Boeing with 100-seat jet, 3% price increase

Article Abstract:

Airbus Industrie (Farnborough, England) offers the new A318 jetliner as an alternative to Boeing's 717. Airbus Industrie is seeking orders for the 100-seat commercial jetliner. The plane will be available sometime around 2002. The A318 is a slimmed-down version of the company's A319, with a loss of 24 seats. The exact cost of the new jetliner was not provided, but might be comparable to Boeing's 717. The price of the 717 is between $30.5 million and $34.5 million.
