Airbus consortium is close to winning a start-up's $1 billion-plus plane order

Article Abstract:

Airbus Industries is close to being awarded a $1 billion-plus airplane order from a planned start-up airline owned by New Air Corp. The new airlines will be based in New York. The carrier is contracting for up to 25 of Airbus' smaller aircraft, such as the A-320 and the A-319 models. The planes can hold up to 150 passengers. Initially, some of the planes will be leased as the yet-to-be-named airline is awaiting the first planes before the end of 1999.
