Airbus pitch: new A350 was worth wait; effort is under way to catch up with rival Boeing's Dreamliner widebody

Article Abstract:

After long delays, Airbus is launching its A350 XWB jetliner, which will compete with Boeing Co.'s 787 Dreamliner. The new A350, which is expected to be in service in 2013, will offer better fuel economy and a large cabin. Boeing's Dreamliners will go into service in 2008.

Airbus board likely to authorize A3XX marketing

Article Abstract:

The board of Airbus Industrie will discuss the proposed construction of the A3XX superjumbo and asked its partners to test the market for the jet plane. Orders for the plane won't be taken unless the board approves an "authorization-to-offer" contract.

Airbus chief expects A3XX approval

Article Abstract:

Noel Forgeard, the chief executive officer of Airbus Industrie, expects to see the approval for the production of the A3XX superjumbo jet planes by the early part of 2001. Forgeard also expressed confidence in the market demand for the aircraft.
