Article Abstract:

Tony Hunt will take over the presidency of architecture and engineering company, YRM in Dec 1993. YRM is paying the price of an expansionist policy during the late 1980s and has had to reduce its staff by half. The company still has a top-heavy management structure and removing this will be a slow process. Hunt trained as an engineer after leaving school at 16, he set up Anthony Hunt Assocaites in 1962 and joined YRM when his firm was aquired in 1988. He has a democratic, informal style of management and hopes to redefine YRM's image and structure.

Alsop & Stormer to design national writing centre

Article Abstract:

Architect, Alsop and Stormer has won a competition to design the national writing centre in Swansea, Wales. The centre will be built in two phases. The first consisting of a writer's centre, bookshop, museum and restaurants, will occupy the first and ground floor of Alsop and sturmer's concrete and glass building. A new public square and atrium is also planned. A library will be built on the upper storeys in phase two. Five million pounds sterling still has to be raised for the construction of the first phase.
