An affinity for technology

Article Abstract:

Cezary Bednarski trained as an architect in Poland. He came to Britain in 1981 and overcame many difficulties in obtaining refugee status and professional recognition. Bednarski's designs are closely related to their context, using technology as a means to an end, not an end in itself. He works by asking the questions, 'why and what for?' His design for a footbridge over the Thames won a comptetion held by the Countryside Commission and he is also working on a school for an Indian village. An idealist, Bednarski has mixed feelings both about Britian and his native land.
