Are you worth your asking price?

Article Abstract:

It is vital that companies appreciate that investment in people plays a key role in their survival. This is particularly the case with smaller companies, many of which have no specialist human resource unit. A company will only get ahead of its competitors if it has outstanding employees, and the UK government should recognise this by offering an incentive to employers to invest in people. The individual employee must bear a considerable part of the responsibility for developing his or her own abilities.

It's not what you think, it's the way that you think it

Article Abstract:

Learning thinking techniques can be a valuable way in which to identify an individual's mind-set and possibly define new ways of thinking. If a person's long-standing way of thinking is to be challenged, then it is vital to offer them a replacement. It is also important to recognise that each individual will probably use a different way of establishing new ways of thinking. The overall aim must be to assist people in taking what they learn and adapting it to their own situation.

Why company values don't work

Article Abstract:

It is vital to consider what makes up the culture of a particular company before an assessment can be made of how to create the right environment for fostering continuous learning. Corporate culture involves many people, but is in fact determined by only a very small number. Continuous learning will only be successful in a corporate environment where there is a holistic approach to vision, mission and values.
