At African waterfall, visitors confront a tale of two cities

Article Abstract:

The tourist trade for the Victoria Falls, shared on both sides of the river between Zimbabwe and Zambia, Africa is a reflection of the political climes. Zimbabwe is experiencing political repression with economic shortages, intermittant violence and Western sanctions. Zambia has embraced capitalism and has seen increased tourist traffic bringing economic prosperity as tourists show favour over visiting Zimbabwe.

Arabs on holiday say, 'Rain, Rain Don't Go Away'

Article Abstract:

Travelers from the United Arab Emirates are visiting India on "monsoon vacations" attracted by the novelty of rain. Many United Arab Emirate travelers have abandoned their usual vacations in the West after the September 11th bombings which caused tighter Visa restrictions and worries about how they would be received.

Tourism slowly returns to Asia

Article Abstract:

The tourist industry is beginning to grow again in the post-tsunami economic recovery of Thailand and Southeast Asia. International hotels are faring better than smaller, local hotel and travel businesses. The tourist industry accounts for six percent of the gross domestic product of Thailand.
