Avoiding peanuts

Article Abstract:

British Airways (BA) has announced a drop in pre-tax profit, while Ryanair has announced a rise in profit. Budget airlines have affected the market for air travel, and British Airways has had to adjust to changes in the market with a move toward cheaper tickets that has pushed down revenues per seat. Ryanair has increased the number of its routes, and cuts costs using a number of measures such as asking passengers to take their rubbish when they leave the aircraft. There is concern about airport charges, and Ryanair is seeking a reduction in charges at Dublin, Ireland, offering to fund the construction of a terminal in exchange for this.
