Brokat offer shines while Fortum waits

Article Abstract:

Brokat Infosystems AG, one of the leading electronic commerce security firms in the world, had a successful stock offering, debuting at 64 marks ($37.85) a share on Sep. 16, 1998. The German firm specializes in complex software that lets financial institutions to move electronic information over electronic networks. Brokat will raise 134 million marks in the offering if the greenshoe option is exercised within October 1998. While Brokat is savoring the success of its offering, the Finnish government deferred its $1-billion offering for electricity and oil group Fortum.
