Building on the past

Article Abstract:

There is a new mood of optimism in Belfast, Northern Ireland, even though the ceasefire has now been broken. This is reflected in the fact that a number of large construction projects are now underway in the city. New uses are being found for redundant industrial buildings, while landmark buildings are also being renovated and put to new uses. The city has a growing number of architectural practices, and Protestant and Catholic groups have been meeting to discuss possible future projects.
