London Clubs International's executive chairman and director, Alan Goodenough, has resigned from his posts. Goodenough resigned due to poor health. He will be replaced by Ron Hobbs, a nonexecutive director for the company.

Bush-Blair alliance faces new strains: as U.S. president prepares to visit his strongest ally, tensions come to the fore

Prime Minister Tony Blair is receiving sharp criticism in the UK for his support of the US-led Iraq War, and US President George W. Bush's visit is expected to exacerbate anti-war sentiment. US government officials in turn are displeased with Blair's efforts to negotiate a deal between German and France to open nuclear inspections in Iran, which they believe will hamper US influence.

BP Amoco is in talks to acquire ARCO

Article Abstract:

BP Amoco PLC is engaged in acquisition negotiations with Atlantic Richfield Co. (ARCO). The potential transaction involves a stock deal worth approximately $25 billion. The talks are an attempt by BP to form an global oil powerhouse. The negotiations however, could still collapse. BP just acquired Amoco Corp. for $48.2 billion seven months earlier. BP Amoco would become the largest producer of oil in the world if the proposed deal pushes through.
