CNOOC retains its focus

Chinese oil company CNOOC Ltd. is gathering investors in preparation of its February initial public offering. President and Chief Operating Officer Fu Chengyu says there are no plans to integrate downstream operations despite analysts' predictions that adding distribution and refining to its operations would help combat lower oil prices.

China National Offshore Oil Corp. despite not acquiring Unocal Corp. and an expansion strategy that seems stuck is performing very well on the stock exchange. A record high of $6.05 Hong Kong Dollars (78 cents United States Dollar) at Friday closing on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
