CTV's comeback

CTV, reacting to a brewing battle for prime-time television in the English-speaking portions of Canada, is making a spirited attack at top- ranked Global Television Network. CTV's success in gaining ground on its top competitor can be credited to its president and CEO Ivan Fecan. First, Fecan appointed capable people to CTV. Second, the firm has brought in high-rating television programs from the US, such as `Friends' and `Who Wants to be a Millionaire.'

Selling to the techies

Article Abstract:

Mail order houses are given several tips on how to sell high technology products to companies using direct mail. They are advised to research company executives with the greatest influence in buying decisions and to target them in the mailings. It is also suggested that direct mails stress product features rather than benefits because high tech professionals prefer hard data that will help them make informed decisions.

Nu Skin's polar promo

Nu Skin Canada jumped at a proposal by the Canadian Outdoor Recreations and Conservation Assn to sponsor a North Pole expedition participated by 60 Chinese-Canadians because of several marketing-related reasons. The sponsorhip allowed the company to improve its corporate image, educate consumers about its products, increase brand awareness and target the growing Asian-Canadian market.
