Canada's Inco shuts down nickel plant

Article Abstract:

Inco Ltd. was forced to close a large nickel production facility in Manitoba after the company failed to reach an agreement with workers for a new labor contract. Inco locked out up to 1,100 workers from the facility. The facility produces approximately 100 million pounds of nickel annually. This comes out to approximately 4.5% of the global nickel supply. The facility also constitutes around 25% of Inco's yearly production.
