Cargill, citing suit, postpones sale of seed business to AgrEvo

Article Abstract:

Cargill Inc. has delayed its proposed sale of Cargill Hybrid Seeds North America business to AgrEvo GmbH. The postponement will take several months. Cargill stated that the sale is now pending a settlement for a lawsuit filed by Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. against the firm. According to Cargill, it conducted an internal probe that discovered questionable genetic material in its breeding program. Cargill traced the material to a former employee with Pioneer that was employed by Cargill.
