MoneySense offers preview ad hook

Article Abstract:

MoneySense is providing free space for advertisers in the May preview if they would book space for the three regular issues in fall 1999, namely, October, November and December/January. The periodical is the newest personal finance magazine in Canada and owned by Maclean Hunter Publishing Ltd. Its May preview will have a total of 150,000 to be distributed through direct mail responses, heavy sampling and newsstands.

Mag law compromise still possible

Article Abstract:

A bill proposed by legislators in Ottawa, Ontario in response to US split runs in the Canadian magazine industry could still be abandoned or amended if trade represenatives from both sides find a way to compromise. Bill C- 55 has been approved in the House of Commons in Mar 15, 1999 and is headed for the Senate. If the bill passes into law, Canada could lose thousands of jobs and millions of dollars.
