Citibank takes its 'pulse' lunch for healthy profits

Article Abstract:

Citibank's head of Singapore operations Sunil Sreenivasan is holding monthly lunches with employees in order to improve morale and retain workers. While head of Citibank's Malaysian operations between 1995 and 1998, Sreenivasan's lunches greatly improved employee and customer satisfaction, making the turnover rate almost nonexistent. Now many Citibank offices hold employee lunches with managers.

Companies make staff morale top priority

Article Abstract:

TMP Worldwide eResources surveyed 400 Hong Kong employers regarding employee relations in the face of an economic slowdown. Forty-eight percent are planning to freeze hiring this quarter and 4.5% may have to lay off some of their staff. The telecommunication, information technology and financial services industries show the steepest decline in job openings.

Paying for performance, restructuring benefits packages, and hiring locally are some of the techniques that may be employed to save money.
